The United Arab Emirates, known as the UAE or "The Emirates" is a country in the middle east which consists of 7 different emirates.

The region has had continuous human occupation going back more than 7000 years however the modern UAE as we know it was formed in 1971 when several of the emirates in the Trucial states declared indepnence from the colonial powers of Britian which was heavily involved in extracting oil from the region.

The 7 emirates which make up the UAE include Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain, and Ras Al Khaimah. These Sheikhdoms were organized were organized by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who is recognized as the founder of the country.

In a span of just under 50 years the UAE has grown from a country with almost no public infrastructure at all to one of the world's wealthiest countries on a per capital basis. The UAE was blessed with some of the largest oil and gas reservers on the planet. These massive energy reserves paired with a visionary founder and tremendous drive to make the country grow have made the UAE on of the most sought after places in the world to live, work, and visit.

The two emirates most populated and important emirates are Dubai and Abu Dhabi and they lead the country in annual GDP and population. Dubai is known for its real estate and high rises while Abu dhabi is known for its vast oil and gas reservers.
